Dalmatian Pedicure

I am fairly new to the blogging world but what better way to break the ice than with my baby girl's Tootsie's?
My nine year old asked me for a spa pedicure recently and I thought to myself, "Now why would I spend 25.00 on a stranger touching my daughters beautiful feet?" So being as creative as I am :) I decided to make the spa at home for her! We had a blast! She loved the attention and the mommy~daughter time -without little brother ;)

Here is how it turned out... it was a great opportunity for me to dabble with Photoshop, as it is currently a growing interest of mine!

She is so happy with her new set of toes...although, now I am stuck with the weekly touch ups! But I don't mind! = )

It's my first time to join the I ♥ FACES PHOTO CHALLENGE! What convinced me to join is this week's theme --- it's all about FEET! I am so happy to share this special moment with such an awesome site!

Underwear Fashion in Ybor! :)

Posted by Picasa

My intrassession at HCC this term has been an awesome experience. Our professor is one of a kind! One of our class projects was to get in a group of about 4 persons and one individual from the group was to wear underwear on his/her head and walk around Ybor for 30 minutes.
It was interesting, as I walked around with underwear on my head, to see that so little interest was paid to the underwear. I am not sure if it was because the underwear looked like a hat and the colors being so vibrant did not really reflect it was underwear OR if people are just so used to seeing strange things (especially in Ybor) that they ignored it, but nevertheless, I didnt achieve the results I expected.
I expected people to mock, laugh, point, ask or stare. None of that happened! One theory I have is that maybe because I was with 3 other individuals people did not see the action so strange, but if I would have been alone, I might have seen more of a fuss. Also, I acted calm and collected, maybe if I would have jumped up and down, yelled, laughed obnoxiously or something-it would have drawn more attention to the matter and made the action of wearing underwear on my head more "weird" per se.
As we visited Starbucks and stood in line, no one acted different (compared to the times I visit Starbucks without underwear on my head!) We then walked to Victoria's Secret, and looked at the underwear Sale section, interestingly, I caught the Sales associate's eyes and asked her if there were more areas of sales, she pointed me in the right direction and asked me if there was something going on. We looked (the 4 in the group) at each other with blank expressions and told the clerk that we had no idea what she was talking about. As we walked out of the store, we witnessed her whispering with another store clerk and staring at us. That was funny!
We continued our stroll and ran into a sweet older lady (seems she is a tour guide for ybor)and she said that if we wanted to get people's attention that the Ybor market was the best place. So off we went, and to our dismay-NO REACTIONS! I am utterly amazed I even spoke with a vendor concerning the products he was selling, he interacted with me as if he could not see the underwear on my head. Interesting, huh? After that, we went back to class.
The experience helped me understand that our society is at it's most tolerant stage. I can assure years before, you walked with underwear on your head, and you at the very least would be questioned by a police officer (to verify if you needed mental help!) Which, by the way, reminds me- An officer walked right past me, never once glancing in my direction! In my opinion, individuals nowadays can express themselves far more than ever before. People are not insulted as easily by others actions anymore, it seems everyone has that, "to each its own" attitude. I am not sure if that's a good or bad thing, but either way it's good to know. :)
